FAQ

Anti-Aging

While aesthetic treatments are increasing in popularity, which ones are best for the aging face?

This depends on the age of the patient and condition of the skin. There are many factors that contribute to looking older such as genetics, cumulative sun exposure, volume and bone loss, and muscle contraction. Young skin is smooth, wrinkle free, and plump so depending on your concern, you’ll address those factors.

What’s the best way to get rid of my brown spots and lines from sun damage?

There’s a common misconception that you have to be “laying” in the sun to get sun damage. The truth is, incidental sun exposure such as walking your dog, gardening, or playing tennis causes damage to the skin the same way as intentional tanning and exposes the skin to UV radiation.

UV radiation leads to brown spots and skin break down (wrinkles). To reverse these effects, the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment is fantastic. Patients notice a big difference after just one treatment although several may be necessary for best results. If the skin damage is more severe, a more aggressive C02 laser resurfacing treatment is very effective. Lastly, if you would like just a “freshening up,” a chemical peel or microneedling treatment works wonders.

I feel like I’m looking old and my face is getting hollow with deep lines by my mouth. What can I do?

Dermal fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane® and the RHA® collection of fillers are wonderful for adding back the volume that we lose as we get older. Part of the natural aging process is flattening of the cheeks and a subsequent drooping appearance of the face. Re-volumizing the cheek area to your natural level gives back the youthful look you had years ago. Some people may also need a touch of filler to the naso-labial folds (parenthesis by the mouth) to soften this area.

I’m only 32 years old and I have deep lines between my eyebrows and on my forehead, they drive me nuts! I’m also starting to get crow’s feet. What are my options?

Lines in the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet) are caused by muscle contraction. Botox®,Dysport®, or Daxxify™ are medications that relax the muscles directly under those lines and soften the surrounding skin making the lines much smoother and, in some cases, they disappear.

What is the best thing for me to do about this crepey skin under my eyes?

Depending on your skin type, age, lifestyle, and sun exposure, there are a couple of things you can do to improve the skin around your eyes. Tretinoin, a prescription cream, is the best topical medication to lessen the appearance of fine lines and smooth the delicate skin on the lower lids as well as other areas of the face. CO2 laser resurfacing is another option for reducing the fine lines around the eyes and other areas of the face. A good moisturizer and sunscreen are also essential!

What can I do about my neck?

While microdermabrasion and chemical peels will only help mildly, C02 lasers and radio-frequency devices offer the best options (currently) and help stimulate collagen. Another treatment option known as Kybella®, gives remarkable, permanent results.

Ok, all of this sounds great but I have a low pain tolerance – are these treatments painful?

The treatments all have varying levels of discomfort. Most are very tolerable, even for sensitive people. Botox®/Dysport®/Daxxify™ treatments do not require any numbing beforehand. There are topical numbing creams commonly used to make other treatments more comfortable and the dermal fillers used at Luxe Aesthetic Center have lidocaine in the product so there is little discomfort. The results are worth the temporary pinch.

Consistent treatments are the best way to keep your skin healthy and looking your absolute best, but regimens vary widely depending on skin concerns, time, and financial consideration. Dermal Fillers

How long will the results of dermal fillers in my lips last?

Depending on your natural lips shape and desired look, the amount of product will vary. For example, very thin lips may require 2 – 4 treatments using small amounts to gradually build lip tissue and maintain a natural look. In our experience the results usually last 9 – 12 months and even longer with repeated treatments.

Will lip fillers stretch out my lips?

No, the product is gradually reabsorbed.

What kind of fillers do you use?

Juvederm Voluma XC® Filler instantly adds volume to the cheek area. Voluma XC® helps to give you a subtle natural lift while restoring contour in the cheek area of up to 2 years*. Contains a modified hyaluronic acid (HA), derived from a naturally occurring complex sugar.

Juvederm XC®  – Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. Juvederm XC® injectable gel is a “next-generation” dermal filler. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” and is excellent for lip augmentation.

Restylane Lyft®– Filler that treats two areas of the face: provides a subtle, natural-looking lift to visibly “sagging” cheeks, and precisely corrects lines, folds, and wrinkles on sides of the nose and mouth.

Restylane Refyne® – Filler that integrates with your skin to help smooth out the lines that run alongside the corners of your mouth and the flexibility you need for natural-looking movement and expressions.

Restylane Defyne® – Filler that is designed to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid to help smooth out deeper lines around your mouth while letting you look more natural through a range of facial expressions.

Restylane – L® – It is used to replenish the dermal volume loss that allows wrinkles to form. It is also used to enhance lips and fill in acne scars. Because it is minimally modified, Restylane® has a low incidence of hypersensitivity reactions and requires no skin testing prior to treatment.

RHA® – Resilient Hyaulorinic Acid Collection of fillers – a collection of FDA-approved fillers for dynamic wrinkles and folds. Unlike other fillers, the Resilient Hyaulorinic Acid (RHA®) can last up to 15 months. Its ability to move with your facial features allows for a natural look and feel. Additionally, it provides effective treatment for both dynamic and static wrinkles, making it a versatile solution for all your aesthetic needs.

How often should I be coming in for facials?

Some of our facials can be performed every 2 weeks. Ideally, every 4 weeks is best to keep and maintain results.
