Luxe Aesthetic Center in Yorba Linda, CA is excited to offer a solution to get rid of your double chin without surgery. We offer an innovative injectable treatment called KYBELLA. KYBELLA is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance for submental fullness (also known as "double chin"). Submental fullness occurs as a result of aging, genetics, and/or weight gain. It is a common problem that affects both men and women. It can detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance - leading to an older heavier look. Our knowledgeable healthcare providers are excited to be among the first to offer this innovative injectable treatment in North Orange County, CA.
What is Kybella and how does it work?
KYBELLA is an individually tailored injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells when injected under the chin for an improved profile. Multiple injections are given under the chin per treatment. Up to 6 treatments may be given, at least 1 month apart. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA permanently destroys fat cells. Once they're gone, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Your body's natural metabolism then processes the fat cleared from the treatment area. The active ingredient in KYBELLA is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a natural occurring molecule in the body that helps break down fat.
What can I expect from my Kybella treatment?
KYBELLA is a nonsurgical treatment you'll get in our office. Before treatment, your healthcare provider may use cold packs or topical anesthesia to help make you more comfortable. Multiple injections are given under the chin per treatment. Up to 6 treatments may be given, at least 1 month apart. The injection process typically takes 15 to 20 minutes. Although results are noticeable, they are not immediate. We generally start with 2 treatments in our office and then assess your results from there. Each treatment is at least 1 month apart. We'll take photos of your chin profile to track your results over time. Together, you and your healthcare provider will tailor a treatment plan for you based on the amount of fat under your chin and your aesthetic goals. You may likely have swelling, so keep your social plans and work commitments in mind.
What do I need to do after my treatment?
You may likely have swelling. The swelling generally became less severe and happened less often with each following treatment session in clinical studies. Women can wear a scarf if they wish to hide bruising or swelling. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment may help to reduce swelling.
You may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or itchiness at your injection sites. These symptoms are typically mild and will resolve on their own within a few days. Sometimes serious side effects can occur, such as nerve injury in the jaw, which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness, or trouble swallowing. Talk to your healthcare provider to discuss any questions or concerns managing side effects.
